Course overview

The graphic design course after 12th in Ludhiana that builds a portfolio, not a certificate

The graphic design course in Ludhiana at techcadd covers Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign alongside the part most courses skip — typography, layout, colour, brand systems and print production — because software is what you operate and design is what you are hired for.

Ludhiana is a better city for a designer than it looks. It has one of north India's larger printing and packaging industries, several hundred hosiery and garment brands that all need labels, tags, catalogues and campaign artwork, an advertising and wedding-media sector that runs year-round, and a growing set of D2C brands selling online. All of them commission design constantly.

The course is built for that market. You work through brand identity, packaging and label design, print-ready artwork with bleed and colour separation, social media systems, and editorial layout — then take real briefs with real constraints, including the ones where the client changes their mind on the fourth version. Every project lands in a portfolio you leave with.

No drawing ability is assumed and no stream matters. What the course asks for is that you look at things properly, which is a habit rather than a talent.

  • Brand work from brief to final artwork, not filter tutorials
  • Print and screen colour handled properly — CMYK, RGB, bleed
  • A portfolio of six pieces you can show at an interview

Straight after 12th

Choosing graphic design straight after 12th in Ludhiana

Design is one of the few fields where an eighteen-year-old with good work outranks a graduate with none. That cuts both ways, and it is worth understanding before you enrol.

  1. Any stream, including yours

Any stream, and no drawing ability required. Every batch has arts, commerce and science students in it and nobody can tell them apart by the third project — what separates people here is how carefully they look at things, not what they studied.

  2. It fits around a degree

The course runs 4–6 months and most students take it alongside a BA, B.Com, BCA or BBA at GNDEC, PAU, SCD Government College, Khalsa College, Government College for Girls, Ramgarhia, PCTE and Gulzar Group. Weekend and evening batches exist for exactly that, and freelance work usually starts before the degree finishes.

  3. The question your parents will ask

₹10,000 to ₹18,000 a month is a realistic first studio offer in Ludhiana, and a single logo and stationery project freelance can be ₹8,000 to ₹25,000. Designers who keep both going are earning more than the salary line suggests within a year or two.

  4. What the first year actually looks like

Resizing other people's artwork, fixing files for print, and doing the fourth revision of something you did not design. This is normal, everybody starts there, and the ones who also make their own work in the evenings are the ones who move.

The single thing that decides how this goes is whether you keep building the portfolio after the course ends. We will tell you that in week one and again at the end.

The full programme runs 4–6 months. Where you finish is a question of pace rather than of syllabus — everyone covers all of it.

The case for it

Nobody has ever been hired as a designer on a certificate.

They are hired on a portfolio, in about ninety seconds. Everything in this programme is arranged around what that portfolio has in it when you finish.

10+Portfolio piecesbrand, print, packaging and social
  • You learn Graphic Design the way it is used in production, with the workflow, tooling and standards a working team expects. Nothing in the syllabus exists only to fill hours.

  • Sessions are hands-on. You do every example, break it, and fix it. Each module closes with a lab task that has to work before you move on.

  • Six shipped finished projects — the kind of work an interviewer can open, click through and question you on.

  • A structured final phase: portfolio review, profile cleanup, aptitude and role-specific practice, mock interviews and placement support.

Why this course

Why should you choose this course?

Six things we hold ourselves to for every Graphic Designing batch that starts in Ludhiana.

  • 01

    Industry-focused curriculum

Syllabus built around what Graphic Design teams actually ship — no filler modules, no theory that never reaches your hands.

  • 02

    Practical learning

Every concept lands in the tool the same day. You work in Graphic Design during each class, not just in your notes.

  • 03

    Real-world projects

Build with real requirements, real data and real problems — from the first task to a finished, reviewable deliverable.

  • 04

    Mentor guidance

Trainers who work with Graphic Design daily review your work, your logic and your approach line by line.

  • 05

    Career preparation

Resume, portfolio, aptitude rounds and interview practice built into the last phase of the course.

  • 06

    Placement support

Interview referrals, mock rounds and continued doubt support after the course ends.

Who can join

Who this graphic design course after 12th is for

School leavers with an eye and no training, students already in a degree who want a skill that earns alongside it, and anyone who has been making posters on a phone and wants to do it properly.

  • Students after 12th

You have finished school and want a skill that pays before a degree does. The first module assumes you have never opened Graphic Design in your life.

    No background needed
  • College students

BCA, B.Tech, B.Sc, BBA, B.Com — any stream. You learn Graphic Design alongside your degree and finish with projects your syllabus was never going to give you.

    Weekend batches
  • Final year and fresh graduates

You are months away from interviews and need work to show, not marks to quote. The final phase is portfolio, mock rounds and referrals.

    Placement support
  • Working professionals

You already have a job and want Graphic Design on top of it. Evening and weekend batches exist for exactly this, and the project work is yours to schedule.

    Evening batches
  • Career switchers

You are coming from a different field entirely — operations, teaching, accounts, sales. Every module starts from why, not from jargon.

    Start from zero
  • Freelancers and business owners

You want to do this work yourself instead of paying for it. You leave able to build, run and judge Graphic Design work on your own terms.

    Practical only

What you actually need before day one

4–6 months · Classroom & online batches

  • A laptop or desktop — we help you set it up in the first session
  • A stable internet connection for the online batches
  • None. The course starts at the interface and the first module is design judgement, not software.
  • Basic English reading — the tools and their documentation are in English
  • About 6-8 hours a week outside class for practice
  • Willingness to finish the lab task before the next class

Not sure which of these you are, or whether the timing works around what you already do? That is exactly what the call is for. Ask about Graphic Designing

Certification

Get certified in Graphic Designing

A techcadd Graphic Designing certificate and an internship letter for the client-brief phase — behind a portfolio of ten or more finished pieces, which is the only thing a studio in this city will actually look at.

  • Course completion certificate

Issued in your name on completion of the Graphic Designing syllabus, with a reference number an employer can verify with us.

  • Project certificate

A separate certificate for the capstone you submit, naming the project so the work is attached to the credential.

  • Internship letter

Students who complete the live-project phase receive an internship letter covering the duration and the work delivered.

  • Portfolio you own

Every file, repository and deployed link stays yours — the part of the credential a reviewer can actually open.

techcadd has been training in Ludhiana since 2007. The certificate carries that record; the Graphic Design work you did carries the rest.

Salary outlook

What graphic design pays in Ludhiana

Studio salaries here start low and freelance rates start high relative to them. Most designers in this city end up doing both, and that is a sensible plan rather than a compromise.

Indicative annual packages by role and market
RoleLudhiana & PunjabDelhi NCR & BengaluruRemote & freelance
Graphic DesignerEntry₹1.8–3.4 LPA₹3–7 LPA₹10k–40k / project
Social Media DesignerEntry₹1.8–3.2 LPA₹2.8–6 LPA₹8k–30k / month
Brand Identity DesignerEntry to mid₹2.6–4.8 LPA₹4.5–10 LPA₹25k–1L / identity
Senior Designer / Art DirectorMid (3–5 yrs)₹4.5–8 LPA₹8–16 LPA₹60k–2L / project

Ranges are indicative, drawn from what our own students report and from openings we see through the placement cell. Actual offers depend on your portfolio, the interview and the company — nobody can promise you a number, and we do not.

  • Graphic designer, social media designer, DTP and print operator, packaging designer and brand identity designer. Studios and agencies in Ludhiana hire on portfolio rather than on qualification, which is unusually good news at eighteen.

  • Portfolio-driven and fast for people who keep making work. The jump from executing somebody else's layout to owning a brand system is where the money changes, and it usually arrives in the second or third year.

  • Very. Design is briefed and delivered as files, and Ludhiana designers hold retainers with clients in Delhi, Mumbai and abroad. Social media design in particular is commonly a monthly retainer rather than per-piece work.

  • Printing and packaging houses, hosiery and garment brands, advertising and wedding-media studios, real estate and property marketing, coaching institutes and schools, restaurants and retail chains, e-commerce and D2C sellers, and the digital agencies serving all of them.

  • Not academic in itself, but the portfolio is what a design-school or animation-degree application is judged on, and it is far stronger evidence than school marks.

Future scope

The road ahead for Graphic Design

A course ends; the field does not. Here is the honest version of what the next few years look like for Graphic Design — where the roles go, and what is shifting underneath them while you learn.

  1. Year 0–1

Get in on proof of work

Entry roles such as Graphic Designer open as soon as you have projects that run. At this stage nobody is asking about your marks — they are asking you to walk through something you built.

  2. Year 2–4

Specialise and get paid for it

The generalists plateau; the specialists do not. Depth in one part of Graphic Design — the part your first job leans on hardest — is what moves you towards brand identity designer work.

  3. Year 5+

    Own the decisions

Architecture, standards, hiring and mentoring. The technical skill is assumed by now; what you are paid for is judgement, and judgement only comes from having shipped things that mattered.

  • Product startups

Frequently asked questions

Questions before you enrol

The 12 things people ask most often about the Graphic Designing course at techcadd Ludhiana.

  • Yes. There is no stream requirement and no drawing test. Arts, commerce and science students take this course in roughly equal numbers and finish at the same standard.

  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as the core, plus Figma for screen work, CorelDRAW where local print houses expect it, and the print-production knowledge — bleed, CMYK, resolution, file handover — that decides whether a job comes back from the press correctly.

  • 4–6 months depending on the batch, with weekday, evening and weekend options. The last phase is client briefs, which is when the portfolio stops being exercises.

  • It helps a great deal and it is not required to start. The lab is available outside class hours and a good number of students work there for the first month while they arrange a machine. We will tell you honestly what specification is worth buying.

  • Many students do — social media creatives, posters, wedding invitations and small logo jobs are commissioned constantly in Ludhiana. We do not promise it, but the client-brief phase exists partly to make you ready for that conversation.

  • The complete Graphic Designing programme runs for 4–6 months depending on the batch you choose. Weekday, weekend and fast-track options are available, along with shorter modules for students who only need the fundamentals.

  • Students after 12th, self-taught designers who want the fundamentals filled in, and small-business owners producing their own material.

  • None. The course starts at the interface and the first module is design judgement, not software.

  • Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, CorelDRAW, CMYK / RGB, PDF/X and Typography — plus the day-to-day tooling and workflow that surrounds them in a real team.

  • Yes. Each module closes with a lab project, and the course ends with a capstone you can put on your portfolio and defend in an interview.

  • Placement support includes resume and portfolio review, aptitude and role-specific practice, mock interviews and interview referrals through our hiring network.

  • Yes. You receive a techcadd Graphic Designing completion certificate, and a separate project certificate for the capstone you submit.
